Spasm:
Symptoms: Cramping, shivering, loss of sensitivity, flickering sight, pain in teeth, and sometimes low temperature.
Treatment: Oil and ghee should be prohibited at the beginning of the disease, at which time phlegm is in excess. Give Swarnakasturi with powdered cardamom (big size) and honey, Chaturbhuj Ras, and Bat Kulantak with trifala powder and honey. Where there is lack of sensation, these medicines will act powerfully. Where this lack of sensation is combined with excessive phlegm, give Brihat Kasturi Bhairab with ginger extract and honey. Where there is heavy, throbbing head and dim vision, add Maha Lakshmibilas or Naradiya Maha Lakshmibilas to these medicines with betel leaf juice and honey. If after two or three weeks of treatment the phlegm is reduced and the patient can tolerate a rice diet, feed him such and give Brihat Bat Gajankus and Tailokya Chintamani. Where the case appears very serious, massage Hangshadi Ghrita. If there is constipation, give Haritaki Khanda. Where there is gonorrhea, Brihat Bangeswar and Jogendra Ras are to be added to the treatment. Where the spasm is chronic, add Brihat Chhagaladya Ghrita to the treatment.
Diet: Liquid food at the beginning (sago, barley, arrowroot and milk). When the disease is lessened, begin nutritious, normal diet. If the patient is weak, give meat soup. At first the patient should bathe in water that has been heated, then cooled.
