Neurasthenia:
There are two kinds of nerves: motor and sensory. All are connected with the brain and spinal cord. When these two centers are affected, there may result neurasthenia.
Symptoms: Loss of memory, reluctance to work, perpetual gloominess, sleeplessness, vertigo, headache, idleness, heart throb, dim vision, hardness of hearing, loss of appetite, and indigestion.
Treatment: Siddha Makaradhwaja, Jogendra Ras, Brihat Bat Chintamani, Dasamularista (Kasturighatita), Brahmi Ghrita, Brahmi Rasayan, Brihat Chhagaladya Ghrita, etc. All are wonderful preparations. Mritasanjibani is also excellent. If the condition was caused by excessive masturbation and sex indulgence and if the the patient feels weak, give Brihat Chhagaladya Ghrita and Sukra Sanjiban. If it is due to dysmenorrhea and frequent pregnancy, give Asok Ghrita, Falakalyan Ghrita, Kumarkalpadrum Ghrita.
Diet: Pungent and exciting foods are not allowed. Easily digested and nourishing foods are best, such as rice (old stock ), unfried mugh lentil, grams, arahar, lentil soup, milk, ghee, curd, mango, jack fruit, banana, pineapple, oranges, etc. Meat, eggs, onions, and garlic are not allowed. Fresh air, timely bathing and eating, and good sleep are needed.
