Origin Of The Aryan Religion

The Arctic Region was not always cold. People lived there. Some thousands of year ago it become cold. The struggle of the people to stay alive and thrive resulted in a spiritual enlightenment that may be called the Aryan Religion. When and how they had first come to these parts we can not say; research is only sure that they were there. When the cold came they began then to move south. The Persian Avesta expressly declares this. The Vedas speak of a six month darkness and a six month light, and its prayers also give evidence of such a seasonal division.

The Aryans, pressed by cold, came southward to the Caucasus. Crossing the Urals, they entered Persia and came to the western Himalayas, on whose eastern slopes settled down in a land they called Arjabarta (Aryan Area). There they continued to develop their culture begun in the Arctic, and centuries later there was born among them a king named Ramchandra.

Holding high the banner of Aryan tradition, Ramachandra was able to materialize much of its idealism, and somewhat later Sri Krishna continued his work.

When Ramachandra was king, he brought about a wonderful order in the society, -an order based on Aryan laws and customs. Though Sri Krishna did not become king, he was a great politician and social reformer. From Sri Krishna to Buddha the ancient Aryan Culture prevailed in Arjabarta.

Buddha tried to rid man of suffering. He may not have spoken of God and such, but he believed in the Vedas, and the fact that people in India from the Himalayas to Cape Comorin accepted him is proof that they too thought him true son of Aryan Culture. Leaders of the society followed him, some adopting the life of a monk. Even later when there was reaction against monkish excesses, traces of the Buddhist influence and culture remained.

Christ was born after Buddha. His teaching was not counter to the Aryan teaching; rather it was in complete agreement. The number of practical things that Krishna and Buddha effected in their lifetimes may not have been duplicated by Christ in his short ministry, but still we call him their fulfiller and successor. Jesus taught men to love their neighbors and to cultivate a sincere spirit. In this he was in line with the Vedic tradition.

After Jesus died, the Aryan religion took many diverse shapes. One was Islam. Mohammed too was in harmony with our ancient teachers. He was a social reformer along the lines laid down by Ramchandra and Krishna. Unlike Buddha and Christ he made war on his opponents and with a fierce boldness established himself in Arabia. He planted Aryanism where it had never been planted before. He was a fulfiller of his predecessors. The sayings of both Jesus and Mohammed sound like the verses of our Vedas. The Hadiz may well be compared with the Upanishads.

Sri Chaitanya’s personality and ways remind us of Lord Christ. So also Sri Ramakrishna who once again, through his disciple Vivekananda, revived the Vedic religion in its true form.

Here we want to mention the names of some of the men who have dedicated their lives for the rescue of others: Kabir, Nanak, Moulana Ruhm, Shamshtabrez, Moses, Zoroaster, Sankar, Ramanuja, Nityananda, and Vivekananda. Many men have shown us the right way to live. Because their personalities and times and languages differed, this path has taken the shape of many sects or religions. But all these religions are really one path, one religion. Through a multiplicity of sects the in-tuned faithful disciples of the different prophets have actually swept the world with truth.

The prophets succeeded one another after great gaps of time. Yet they maintained links with each other. They usually took birth in places where people were not able to follow the preceding prophets. They tried to re-establish the ways of their predecessors. But few in their lifetimes understood them. They wanted people to grow in accordance with their instinct and temperament. Today we have again forgotten and distorted the path. We ignore and war with each other. Every country establish its superiority-through science, tries to to technology, personality, power, etc.-but none is present to show them the true way of service and love. We need once again a prophet demonstrator, so that our hearts may take hope and we may be rescued from imminent peril.

Prophets come when religion is at a low ebb. So it is declared in the Hindu Gita, in the Buddhist Tripitaka, in the Bible, in the Koran, etc.

Let dispute and dissension end. Let us acclaim the New Advent. May we through him realize the glorious reign. May all the world awake to joy through his happy loving touch, singing high his name !
