How To Treat Nose Troubles or Diseases In Ayurved

NOSE TROUBLES:

Coryza or Common Cold

In Ayurveda it is called Pinash. It is a simple disease, but it can lead to complications and other ailments. Influenza Batika is the specific for the cold. Makaradhwaja with tulsi leaf juice, ginger juice, and honey; and Maha Lakhsmibilas with betel leaf juice and honey are to be taken. In addition, Mahadasamul or Sarabindu Taila is to be snuffled in the nose. If the coryza is very heavy, use Maha Lakshmibilas and Brihat Kafaketu Ras with accompanying medicines of ginger juice and honey. Where there is constipation, give Kosthasuddhi Batika. Hot water bath for 10-15 minutes is good. But keep the feet dry after bath and at other times as well.

 

Ozaena

The mucous membranes of the nose become inflamed and sore. Purulent matter with blood is discharged. Slesma Sailendra Ras is the best medicine. Accompany it with ginger juice and honey. Have Sarabindu Taila and Maha Sugandhi Nasya snuffled in the nose. Nasha Kshata Churna is also good.

 

 

Epistaxis or Nose-Bleed

Many people suffer from nose-bleed. Immediate action must be taken lest weakness develop. Eladi Gurika is to be given with honey. Khandakadya Lauha with vasica leaf juice and honey is also to be taken. Maha Lakshmibilas with cynodon doctylon extract and honey is excellent. In chronic cases, Maha Draksharista may be given in addition to these medicines. Nashakshata Churna is also helpful.

 

If it is due to coryza, it will vanish with the cold. If not, give Mahadasamula Taila twice or thrice daily in the nose.

 

Diet in nasal diseases: Fasting for coryza, according to condition of patient. Hot water bathing and drinking wheat bread, shali rice, fresh fish, soothing but stimulating foods are desirable. Unhygienic or exciting foods and drinks are prohibited. Daytime sleeping is bad. Excessive reading, tea, and labor are harmful. If the nose bleeds, snuffle Sarabindu Taila and have cold water bath.
