Apoplexy:
Cause: Severe gas in stomach, causing reactions in heart, brain, mind, and senses. A sudden flow of blood into the brain ruptures blood-vessels, causing hemorrhage; water then accumulates in the brain, bringing on apoplexy.
Symptoms: Loss of sensation, loss of motion, sudden stroke, falling, dilated eyeballs (or one dilated and one contracted), either quick or slow pulse, cramping of the whole body, paralysis of one side, etc. Often, before swooning, the patient suffers from retching, headache, warm sensations in the head, constipation, scanty urine, and restlessness.
Treatment : Mahendrasurjya Ras or Bachadi Nasya in the nose so that it may be inhaled fully to revive consciousness, after which the treatment for swooning is to be followed. Here too Santi Bati is a wonderful help.
Diet: Milk, sago, barley, and other light foods in small quantities many times. When the patient is recovered, he should be given rice and nutritious food, such as meat soup. Bathing in heated water (cooled) is allowed. Bowels should be kept clear.
