Gall Bladder Stones and Biliary Colic or Cholecystitis or Cholangitis:
When stones form in the gall bladder, the condition is known as biliary calculus. When these stones pass through the bile duct, creating pain, the condition is known as biliary colic. As long as the stones are in the gall bladder, pain will be felt. When the stones pass into the bile duct (this seldom happens), the patient becomes restless with pain and begins to vomit or retch. As soon as the stones reach the duodenum, relief comes. So biliary colic cannot last more than a week.
