Gonorrhea:
Cause: Cohabitational contagion with those infected by the gonococcus.
Stages and Symptoms: First or dormant stage in which the symptoms are suppressed for a couple of days up to a week; second or inflammatory stage, in which the face of urethra or vagina begins to tickle and there is desire to scratch it, and in which desire to urinate frequently is felt, the urine, however, coming out in a very thin flow with a burning sensation and accompanied by milk-white mucus matter. The mouth of penis or vagina swells a little and reddens; if it is pressed, a milk-like liquid substance comes out. The symptoms gradually increase until plenty of pus is exuded and there is great pain and heaviness in the bladder, testicles, and waist. This stage lasts 10-15 days, and sometimes up to three weeks, depending on the patient’s temperament. Third stage, in which there is severe burning sensation, retention of urine, In the final and yellow elements discharged. chronic stage all symptoms disappear except on оссаssional discharge of milk-white, mucus-like semen.
Treatment: In the first stage Saribadi Salsa in the morning, Swarnabanga with butter and sugar candy at 8 a. m., and Bangeswar with raw saffron extract and honey in the evening. By using these medicines in the first stage many patients have been cured of this dread disease. Swarnabanga and Brihat Bangeswar have gold in them and possess the power to destroy the gonococcus, to purify the blood, and clear up the bladder. Saribadi Salsa is also a blood purifier.
Second and Third Stage Treatment: Saribadi Salsa, Swarnabanga, and Brihat Bangeswar; in the evenings Manikya Ras with ghee, sugar, and honey; massage of the lower abdomen with Prameha Mihir Taila. If the penis is painful, soak a piece of cloth in Prameha Mihir Taila and cover the penis with it. Due to sudden excitement there is every possibility of the penis becoming curved like a bow during the height of the disease. Then soak a cloth with Masbaladi Faila and cover the penis with it. Due to negligence or ignorance the first stage may pass to the second, and the second to the third where the symptoms almost disappear and the patient flatters himself that he is cured. In this third stage the germ is trying to Install itself in the body; medicines of the second stage should be applied during it. In the chronic stage the germ has incorporated itself, and there is occasional milky-mucous discharge, and sometimes spermatorrhea. Even in this stage treatment is useful. If the penis is sore, use Santi Malam as an ointment. In acute and chronic cases Saribadi Salsa and Saribadi Bati are tried stand-bys. Where there are wounds, use Santi Malam, Sadhana Malam, or Charmarogantak. In the second and third stages, if there is high temperature, give Sarbajwar Bati.
Diets: If there is fever, give musuri lentil soup, gruel of parched rice, and other light foods, but allow no boiled rice or bathing. If there is no fever, rice can be eaten twice daily. Fish, flesh, and milk are not allowed. Musuri is the most useful of the lentils; mugh, gram, and arahar may also be taken. Gourd, puffed rice, fried rice, luchis, bread, fried foods, leafy vegetables, acids, curd, daytime sleeping and night-time awaking, are prohibited. Cohabitation is forbidden. Too hot or too cold foods are not advisable. Ghee may be eaten. In the first stage moving about is not good. Horseback riding and bicycle riding are harmful. The best thing to do is lie down.
